The digital tree - called VTREE Solar - installed in Lisbon in February 13, 2016 - allows people to free charge mobile phones and access the Internet through wi-fi. The VTREE Solar is part of the European Sharing cities programme, which aims to make cities more sustainable.

VTREE captures solar energy through the photovoltaic panels installed in the branches of the “tree” providing green electricity for charging gadgets through USB plugs available in the “roots”. Also electric cars can be recharged. The tree also offers wi-fi up to 30 Mb /s, night lighting and further useful
