Short description:

Strawberry Tree has succeeded in developing a new derived product combined with an innovative control electronics system that enables intelligent control. One of their first product is The Strawberry Tree which provides free mobile devices charging via a range of already built in connectors. It brings the Internet of Things to outdoor public spaces that people visit daily, improving urban living by making cities smarter and more convenient to live in.
The company started at Business Incubator Technology Faculty of Belgrade with a group of students who had designed their first prototype in a home garage and had the ambition to make renewable energy source available for free for everyone. In 2010, they create the world’s first solar-powered charger for mobile devices for outdoor public spaces.
That same year, the first Strawberry Tree is installed in a city outside of Belgrade and is used by a ten thousand people in only one month. A double bench topped by a large solar panel with different types of charger to load different types of devices offers wireless internet together with a place for a rest. Meant to meet the needs of rural areas and developing countries without electricity as well as smart cities it encourages people to use renewable energy and has reached so far 400 000 users.
With this in mind they’ve developed the Strawberry mini rural, a rolling suitcase resistant to diverse weather conditions and adjustable to all grounds.
Over the last five years, they’ve been expanding in more than a dozen locations in Europe and are striving to spread the network of Strawberry Trees across the globe together with their partners from Russia, South Africa and the US. They recently partnered with Londons' mayor to install smart benches at Milton keynes shopping park and Bandbury Gateway in Canary Wharf London where people can now enhance their shopping experience and businesses develop their environmental credentials.
