My degree and research activities over the past some fifteen years have given me a strong background about four main scientific subjects: (1) Spatial planning and Landscape Ecology; (2) Spatial information and complex algorithms (spatial metrics); (3) Remote sensing and GIS technologies; (4) Novel approaches on geo-information interoperability, syntactic and semantic (Semantic Web-GIS).
My scientific activity is carried out in a frame of a wide inter-disciplinary and holistic view to investigate anthropic systems and their inner functions.
The two main achievements I gave out so far refer to: (1) Maptool a software module working in GIS environment to assess spatial metrics, and (2) a baseline framework (Landscape Diagnosis Triangle, LDT) to support spatial planning, in collaboration with Prof. Hubert Gulink at the KU Leuven (Belgium). The combination of two provides an integrated approach to support decision making whit emphasis on the role of the general public.
