Fernando J. Álvarez received his Physics degree from the University of Sevilla (Spain) and his Electronics Engineering degree from the University of Extremadura (Spain). He also holds a MSc degree in Signal Theory and
Communications from the University of Vigo (Spain) and a PhD degree in Electronics from the University of Alcalá (Spain). He is currently an Associate Professor of Digital Electronics in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation at the University of Extremadura, Spain, where he is also the head of the Sensory Systems Group. His research areas of interest include local positioning systems, ultrasonic signal processing and embedded computing, topics where he has coauthored 30 JCR journal papers and more than 100 contributions to international conferences.
